Health and Safety

Ensuring the health & safety of our employees, sub-contractors and the general public is of the utmost importance. We promote a positive health & safety culture throughout the Group and support the development of skills and knowledge throughout the organisation.

We have established procedures and systems to manage health & safety and provide details of risk assessments via our intranet for all site operatives. In managing health & safety we take a pro-active approach; every three weeks, and more often on more complex sites, NHBC safety consultants undertake a health & safety audit.

The ensuing reports are discussed in detail to ensure that health & safety issues are being managed effectively. In addition, review meetings are held with consultants every six months. Staff are regularly trained and our development sites are well maintained.

We want to be recognised as one of the safest companies to work for in the construction industry. Evaluation of our performance this year shows that our injury rate is better than the NHBC all builder average and the number of major injuries decreased from 6 to 5. This year the number of employees with CSCS accreditation has increased by 29%. In the knowledge that our business continues to expand, with us operating across more sites and employing a larger workforce, we are please with this outcome.

A review of incidents this year has highlighted that slips, trips and falls on the same level coupled with falls from height pose the greatest risks to our employees; consequently we have targeted these areas for improvement this year. Regular reviews will be undertaken across all sites and awareness raised in order to reduce these incidents.
